Built by Someone Who Learned the Hard Way
After a $90,000 kitchen remodel that went sideways — wrong contractor, no real plan, budget chaos — we built the service we wish had existed.
How Remodel Reality Check Started
In 2019, our founder Marcus Webb hired a contractor to gut and rebuild his Denver kitchen. He had a rough idea of what he wanted, a Pinterest board, and a verbal quote. What he didn't have was a realistic budget, a clear scope, or any way to evaluate whether the contractor's plan made sense.
Fourteen months later, the project was done — $31,000 over budget, with three contractor changes and a layout that still doesn't work the way he imagined. The concept was never visualized before demolition started. Nobody told him the island he wanted would block the refrigerator swing.
Remodel Reality Check exists because that story is not unusual. Most homeowners walk into a remodel with a dream and no roadmap. We give you the roadmap first — before you spend a dollar on demolition.

Our job is to give you clarity before you commit. That means honest budget ranges based on real Colorado contractor data, concept renderings that show you what's actually possible in your space, and written guidance you can hand directly to a contractor.
We are not a design firm, a contractor referral service, or a project management company. We are a planning tool — the thing you use before you hire anyone else.
